What do Chiropractors do?

Following an in depth case history, the chiropractor will perform a thorough physical assessment and aim to get to the root cause of the presentation. If treatment is indicated, and with the permission of the patient, the chiropractor will use a variety of techniques to treat the patient.

The treatments are safe and effective. They might include low force joint manipulation, soft tissue work, active or passive release, cranial work, dry needling, flexion-distraction, activator, mobilisation, exercises and pelvic blocks. The patient is in charge and can chose which types of treatment they have a preference for or against.

How often do I need to see the Chiropractor?

Each case is individual and can depend on many factors. Generally patients should feel significant improvement within 6 treatments. Initially it is better to have treatments at shorter intervals to get maximum effect.

Many people like to have a general check up and maintenance to make sure their body is functioning as well as possible. Sometimes it is necessary to be referred for imaging or to another profession such as a medical doctor or dentist for further investigation, opinion or co-management.
